pkr and dap's supporters waving flags outside the polling station, a primary school in usj. voters were seen exercising their rights

independent party, billi lim's supporter(?), photo by alison, canon 350d
we have an independent party represented by the author of "dare to fail" billi lim. maybe he just contested for the publicity? it was amusing though and a good subject to shoot.

pkr's flag, photo by alison, canon 350d
somehow this reminds me of sauron's eye (lord of the rings), with the dark cloud in the background, hmm.....

bn's flags, photo by alison, canon 350d
bn's tiny triangle flags are all over subang jaya, from street lamps to trees and traffic lights.

looking like a pro that i am not. surrounded by a sea of bn's flags.

dap's rocket is going up up and away!

gene and i really had loads of fun taking pictures around our little neighborhood

hannah's (dap) poster, photo by gene, canon 350d
dap's candidate hannah yeoh, ...vs...

ong chong swen's (bn) poster, photo by alison, canon 350d
bn's ong chong swen for the state seats

banners on bridge, photo by alison, canon 350d
notice the big banner from bn? and the teeny tiny from dap's hannah yeoh? looking rather intimidating doesn't it? dap and pkr only had a few posters and banners around usj and subang jaya compared to bn's sea of blue. but results from the polls proves that you don't need thousands of flags and big banners to win.

hannah's victory was overwhelming, a whooping 23, 459 votes compared to ong's 9,608 votes. hannah wins a majority of almost 14,000 votes

loh gwo burn's (pkr) banner, photo by alison, canon 350d
this is gwo burne, the one responsible for the recording and eventually the exposing of the lingam tape, running for parliament seat. yes he won, i wonder what message is he sending with that camera in hand? "surprise! you're on gwo burne's candid camera!?" :-) rain was heading our way while i shot this picture, can you see the background? it rained heavily right after we got into the car.

bn's banner, photo by alison, canon 350d
when i took this photo, i thought it had a good composition, then later i realise it can also mean bn's bumpy road ahead(?)

dap's banner, photo by alison, canon 350d
need i say more?

  3. Alison! Good photos. Will come in handy in 50 years' because then they will reflect on how the Opposition took 5 states by storm. And you captured your Selangor side. I wore red on voting day. Nic couldn't find any blazing red shirt so he made do with a maroon checkered shirt. Love your boots in "My Day". reminds me of Dixie Chicks, I don't know why!

  4. mayakirana: my collegues and clients still talking about it every time we meet, it's like "drama minggu ini", just that now it's "drama hari ini"!

  5. What awesome photos of the election! Especially fascinating to compare your political ads in Malaysia to ours here in the States this year. A lot of similarities! No dude with a camera in his hand, though! LOL :-)
