I've made similar notebooks to the faux leather ones. This time I use denim fabric and added some laces for a little bit of feminine touch.
I really like these little notebooks.
I've also been learning new binding methods, these are just prototypes that I was working on. My shelves are accumulating a lot of prototype journals, notebooks and journals that didn't quite make the cut to be in the shops. I guess I'll never run out of journals to write in :)
Last weekend I met a few new Etsy friends in the city. I almost didn't want to go, shyness being the main reason, after months being and working alone at home, meeting people makes me nervous, especially in a group. But Gene encouraged me to go out and make new friends and so I went. I was so nervous that I could feel my ears and face burning up every time I started talking. It's hilarious to think about it now. I talk better behind a computer than in person. It was a pleasant gathering after all and I enjoyed it. The cute paper cut out with sweets and chocolates inside was a little gift from Emily, who organised the gathering.
I received a box of goodies from my sister and what a happy treat it was for me and Kiki :)
I've made my to do list for next month and will be seeing myself happily making more journals in the studio in the coming days.
My next market: 29 September (Sunday), 10am-2pm - Titirangi Village Market
Good to see that you're busy and also making new friends. I always wonder what cats find so interesting about cardboard boxes! Flighty xx
ReplyDeleteThat's a good question, I have no idea too. Well, as long as she is happy, it's all good. xx
ReplyDeleteHi Alison,
ReplyDeleteI love your new journals! Have you tried talking to gift shops or bookstores in your area about selling them in their stores?
They would sell fast in a store.
I am glad you enjoyed meeting new friends!
Kiki is so cute and looks very happy!
Good for you, Alison! I know how hard it is sometimes to step out of our comfort zone.... I'm the same way, but always glad when I do because those creative connections are really so valuable. Yay for the new journals and happy goody boxes!
