New creations and blooms.

This week has been a productive week. Finished some journals and cards, went for a little photography assignment and was at the first Titirangi Village Market for the year.

This bright colourful journal is already in my Etsy shop.

An indigo tie dye journal is listed too.

I tend to keep fabric scraps no matter how small they are, thinking that I'll make something one day, and that day came last Wednesday. I manage to stitched them together and make into a book cover.

The inside is made from an old purple pillow case.

It is use to cover my planner which doesn't look so interesting as you can see. I'm quite happy with the result although my sewing still needs a lot of practise.

Some cards that I made recently. Woodblock prints on fabric.

Meanwhile, Gene has been busy too. We went shopping for wood last Saturday.

So many sizes and the smell of wood... I like it very much!

This is what he made and finished this evening. He got the white table top from the office, Someone nicked the top and was going to be thrown away, Gene brought it home, did some work on it and built the support frame/legs for it. It is a very big table and now is his workspace in the garage. I might use it too when he's not ;)

In the garden...

Cosmos are blooming.

I bought this Lobelia on a discount, it was in a sad condition when I got it, hardly any flowers. After transferring to the planter (that Gene made ;)), some care and feed, a week later it burst into blue hues. I love the blue flowers! So glad it survived.

I got a chance to have a photo session with amazing artists Pauline and Bob, who live in an old Bedford bus in the farm with their dog Ruby (plus some cows and wild rabbits). This little assignment is for East West Gallery where they have their work for sale. I feel so privileged to be able to have tea with them, listen to their inspiring stories and see their amazing art work. Before leaving, Pauline gave me this rare purple Crucifix orchid. I look forward to seeing the flowers, though I think it will take a while :)

Have a good week ahead!

  1. A nice post and lovely pictures, with the wood one being a bit different. I think you know cosmos are one of my favourite flowers, especially the white ones.
Good luck with the orchid, I'm not that keen on them but they are such exotic flowers. Flighty xx

  2. Flighty, I bought a mix of cosmos seedlings and the white ones just bloomed this morning! What a delight! Thanks. My mom used to have orchids, this will remind me of the orchids that we had when I was little.
