2016 - I am present

Happy New Year!

It has been a while since I last blogged, One of the things I love about new year is that I get to begin again. So here I am.

My word of the year for 2016 is Prosper.

This will be my third year running my Etsy store full time. It has not been easy and it has yet come to the place where I wish it to be - profitable. But I am determined to work creatively to making it my source of income. Hence the word I picked for this year is Prosper. May this word carry me forward and upward in my business and may I prosper in my venture.

The last 2 days of 2015 saw me making myself a journal for the new year. I have always used rejected journals to write in, the ones that never reach to public because I think they're not up to standard. It got me thinking that hey, I learned bookbinding to make myself beautiful journals to write in and I love writing in beautiful books, so I decided that I would make myself a book that I truly love to write in.

Here it is. A shibori tie dye journal with a printed word Aroha. Aroha in Moari language is quite similar to the word Metta, which means love and kindness. I am learning to love myself and not just giving myself the rejects.

Hand printed Aroha on a tiny scrap fabric that is sewn onto the fabric plus a tiny wooden heart button.

Front.
Back.
The endpaper is a lovely card stock that of wild forest creatures. Magical.

My first entry.

I am hoping to write and draw more frequently this year. Looking forward to another amazing and magical year.

May you too achieve what you set out to accomplish. My best wishes to you for a wonderful 2016! Onward!

  1. A nice post. I hope that your Etsy store does indeed prosper this year, as it deserves to. That's a good looking journal that you've made for yourself.
Thanks, and to you too. Flighty xx
